Apparently the presidential candidates differ on more than just healthcare and economic issues. Barack Obama and Mitt Romney have different approaches when it comes to mobile website design as well.

In an article on Smashing Magazine, the writer pits Obama against Romney in the mobile boxing ring, bringing up a topic that’s often debated among website developers. Should you build a dedicated mobile website or a responsive website?

The highly recommended read outlines the pros and cons of these two approaches, using Romney’s dedicated mobile website and Obama’s responsive design website as examples. These two mobile websites are both well-designed but contrast greatly in terms of experience and content.

You may expect Duda to encourage everyone on the planet to build a dedicated mobile website like Romney has chosen to do. After all, that is the Duda way of going mobile. But we know there’s not a one-size-fits-all solution. In fact, there are several right ways to go mobile.

Both Romney and Obama have created a mobile presence the right way in many respects. So, why does the Duda way make more sense for many individuals and businesses who want to build a mobile-optimized website? It’s the cost effectiveness and simplicity in the approach.

Duda and Google have something in common: We both want to educate local businesses about how and why they should think mobile. TechCrunch Says: Mobile Ads Work!

TechCrunch just reported how tablet and smartphone users are more engaged with mobile ads. Their proof? By flipping through the 70 page report released by the Interactive Advertising Bureau, TechCrunch writer Ingrid Lunden was able to drill down three main reasons why mobile ads perform so well.

Check out the three highlights from the article, The Touchscreens Have It: IAB Says Tablets, Smartphones Driving Big Returns on Ads.

Reason #1: Larger screens invite more clicks.  In the monstrous mobile ad space, tablets reign supreme over smartphones. When seeing an ad on a tablet, 47 percent of users click through to learn more. 89% of those users who clicked through, took action.

Reason #2: More time is spent on mobile devices. Mobile ads are seen more frequently and for a longer period of time simply because people are increasingly becoming more and more glued to their devices. 70 percent of survey respondents say they consider their phone to be as important as their wallet or car keys.

Reason #3: Relevant content, duh. Marketers are rapidly picking up on what content mobile users love. Ads that contain coupons or deals perform exceptionally well. Could it be because the typical on-the-go user is usually in a buying state of mind? Yes, yes it is.
